As Co-director for WREN (Waterloo Region Environment Network), a local non-profit, Stacey is working to build the success of local sustainability-focused organizations through collective action and collaboration. Stacey hold a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Waterloo, and worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at a world-renowned Centre for Aging in Toronto. She shifted from academia to spend more time with her family, and to follow her passions in community-building and environmental action.
As GPO Finance Critic, Stacey believes it is essential that our current government move beyond the status quo and use longer-term, evidence-based decision making that is also both financially and environmentally sustainable. With this approach, saving money wouldn’t come at the cost of our most vulnerable and marginalized people. By re-focusing on the needs of people in our communities and caring for our natural environment, everyone benefits – while we strengthen our economic future.
“There is another option for change – once we start putting people first, every other decision leads to positive change and stronger communities.”
